Gas Company announces supplying Aden and Taiz with additional quantities of domestic gas

The Yemen Gas Company announced on Thursday that it will supply the governorates of Aden and Taiz with additional quantities of domestic gas, as part of its efforts to confront the gas crisis in the two governorates.

The official news agency "Saba" quoted the company's executive director, Engineer Mohsen bin Wahit, as saying that the governorates of Aden and Taiz were supplied with 140 gas trailers during the first week of March, an increase over the allocated share for the two governorates, as the difference amounted to 72 trailers.

Wahit added that the weekly share of Aden Governorate was increased from 32 trailers to 65 trailers, an increase of 33 trailers, while the weekly share of Taiz Governorate reached 75 trailers, an increase of 39 trailers over its scheduled share of 36 trailers per week.

Wahit explained that this increase aims to end the bottlenecks of the domestic gas crisis in the two governorates, calling on the local authorities to activate their supervisory role over the distribution of domestic gas in the markets to ensure that it reaches the deserving citizens.

During the past few days, several Yemeni governorates, including Aden and Taiz, witnessed a crisis in the availability of domestic gas, coinciding with the advent of the month of Ramadan, which led to severe congestion in front of gas sales centers.

Activists on social media circulated photos showing large numbers of citizens standing in queues in front of gas stations and centers in the two governorates.
