Aden Public Prosecution releases 148 prisoners on the occasion of Ramadan

The Public Prosecution in the interim capital, Aden, released 148 prisoners who met the legal conditions for conditional release, in implementation of the directives of the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, and based on the circular of the Attorney General of the Republic, Judge Qaher Mustafa, on the occasion of the advent of the holy month of Ramadan.
The head of the Prisons Division at the Public Prosecution Office, Judge Dr. Nasser Al-Subaihi, explained in a statement published on the Public Prosecution’s website that the release process included: 102 prisoners who had served more than three-quarters of their sentence, and 46 prisoners who had served half of their sentence, in accordance with the laws in force that allow conditional release for those who have met its conditions, especially in non-serious cases.
Judge Al-Subaihi pointed out that the release excluded those convicted in serious cases, such as terrorism, money laundering, and drug trafficking, in order to maintain the judicial and security system and ensure that the judicial system is not disrupted.
Al-Subaihi confirmed that the Public Prosecution is following up on the cases of 317 prisoners who are still in prisons on the basis of private rights despite having completed their legal detention period. He explained that work is underway in coordination with the heads of the prosecution offices in the liberated governorates to begin procedures for their release, starting tomorrow, Sunday, March 9, 2025.
