The Public Prosecution Office in the interim capital, Aden, announced the referral of a case file related to financial corruption to the Public Funds Court, as part of efforts to combat corruption and preserve public funds.

A responsible source in the Public Prosecution said, on Monday, that the Second Public Funds Prosecution, which specializes in corruption cases, submitted the file of Criminal Case No. 8 of 2020, a serious crime, to the Public Funds Court, Aden Governorate.

The source explained that in this case, (H.A.M.H), (L.J.A.J) and (A.H.H.A) are accused of facilitating the seizure of public funds.

The Public Funds Prosecution confirmed that it will continue to refer corruption case files to the court for adjudication, in implementation of the directives of His Excellency Judge Qaher Mustafa Ali, the Attorney General, regarding the speedy initiation of cases of seizing public funds.

This is the second corruption case to be referred by the Public Prosecution to the court in Aden for adjudication, during the current November, after two officials from the Aden refineries were referred to the Public Funds Court on charges of harming the company and facilitating the seizure of public funds, as part of the government’s efforts to combat corruption.

Last Thursday, the head of the internationally recognized government, Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, referred the CEO of the Oil Investment Company to the Public Prosecution for investigation for his failure to preserve public property and acting individually in negotiations related to the transfer and operation of one of the oil sectors.

Ben Mubarak said in a post on his account on the “X” platform, “Today, I referred a new file in corruption cases to the Attorney General, as part of ongoing procedures based on the government’s absolute commitment to the approach of combating corruption and promoting transparency and accountability as a position and not just a slogan.

The Prime Minister added: "We are moving forward, along with the judicial and oversight bodies, in this direction without hesitation, and we affirm that there is no protection for anyone, regardless of their job position, who is proven to be involved in looting public funds or financial and administrative corruption from the hands of justice."
