60 parliamentarians demand that the House of Representatives resume its sessions, activate oversight and combat corruption

60 members of the Yemeni House of Representatives called on the Presidency of the Council to prepare and arrange for a meeting of the Council as soon as possible, and no later than next September, after its sessions were unable to be held since the election of a new Presidency in the city of Seiyun in 2019.

In a letter signed and addressed to the Council Chairman, Sultan Al-Barkani, and the members of the Presidency, the members stressed the importance of assigning the Finance Committee to conduct field visits and submit a report on the level of actual implementation of the state’s general budgets and all budgets of economic units for the previous two years.

The letter also called for assigning the Audit and Control Authority to visit all government agencies, provide the Council with periodic reports on the performance of ministries and the economic units sector, and work to activate the role of the Anti-Corruption Commission.
