A survey documented 68 cases of civilian deaths and injuries due to mines planted by the terrorist Houthi militia supported by the Iranian regime in Ma'rib Governorate, during the period from January 1, 2023 to October 2024.
This came during a symposium organized by the Marib Dam Foundation for Social Development, which prepared the study, in partnership with the Justice Charter Alliance for Yemen, within the SAND project to support mine victims, under the title “Fields of Silent Death.”
The study said that among the victims of Houthi militia mines were 22 deaths of civilians, travelers and farmers in 29 mine and explosive device explosion incidents, explaining that children topped the list of documented victims with 31 victims, followed by men with 30 victims, then women with 6 victims, in addition to the killing of one elderly person and 12 cases of disability.
The monitoring process included six directorates and displacement camps, and the desert line between Marib and Al Jawf governorates, through which travelers used to pass. It confirmed that it documented the fall of 26 victims of mines planted by the Houthi militias from the people of Marib governorate, 25 victims from the displaced, 13 from travelers across the desert line, and 4 from farmers in their agricultural fields.
The Undersecretary of Marib Governorate, Dr. Abdul Rabbo Miftah, confirmed that the terrorist Houthi militia persists in practicing killing and serious violations against the Yemeni people, most notably planting mines in farms, pastures, villages and roads with the aim of killing the largest number of innocent civilians, and destroying crops and offspring without exception, citing what the study revealed that the majority of mine victims are children, women, travelers and farmers, who are innocent civilians.
