The Houthi militia seized a mosque in Al-Qaeda city in Dhi As-Sufal district, south of Ibb governorate (central Yemen), amid escalating violations against mosques in the governorate.

Local sources said that the Houthi militia seized the "Hael" mosque in Al-Qaeda city after expelling its imam, "Walid Rajih", and appointing one of its members as his replacement.

The sources added that the seizure took place in the presence of the Houthi supervisor in the governorate, called "Abdul Fattah Ghallab."

The sources indicated that the incident sparked rejection and condemnation from the mosque’s patrons, before the militia launched a kidnapping campaign against the protestors, including the citizen “Tariq A’il Muqbil.”

The incident comes a day after the militia stormed a mosque in one of the towns of the neighboring Al-Sayani Directorate, as part of a series of widespread violations targeting mosques and those in charge of them.
