On March 4, the US State Department announced its decision to designate the Houthi group in Yemen as a "foreign terrorist organization," following US President Donald Trump's call for such a move earlier this year.
In January, Trump placed the Houthi movement back on the list of foreign terrorist organizations, a change that could lead to tougher economic sanctions in response to its attacks on commercial shipping in the Red Sea and against US warships defending that vital maritime area.
