Prime Minister Ahmed bin Mubarak stressed the need to address the collapse of the national currency and secure oil derivatives in liberated governorates, emphasizing the need to take urgent measures to enhance economic stability.
This came during a joint meeting in the interim capital, Aden, attended by the leadership of the Central Bank of Yemen and the Ministries of Finance and Oil and Minerals, to discuss the financial, economic, monetary, and service conditions.
According to the state-run Saba News Agency, the meeting addressed coordinated measures with the Presidential Leadership Council to strengthen the value of the national currency and integrate fiscal and monetary policy, with the goal of controlling exchange rates and limiting their impact on citizens' livelihoods.
The meeting also discussed plans to secure the local market's needs for petroleum derivatives and domestic gas, coinciding with the implementation of the decision to ban the Houthi militia from importing oil and gas after it was designated a foreign terrorist organization.
Integrated plans for supplying power plants with petroleum derivatives and preparations to meet the increased demand during the coming summer were reviewed.
In another government meeting chaired by Bin Mubarak, ministers in Aden discussed improving the efficiency of tax and customs institutions. They reviewed ways to enhance state resources, implement financial reforms, and address current imbalances in coordination with the private sector.
During the meeting, attended by the Ministers of Finance and Industry and Trade, mechanisms for improving tax and customs performance, regulating collection processes, and increasing public revenues were discussed, including unifying customs procedures at ports.
