Accounts affiliated with the Islamic Resistance Movement "Hamas" broadcasted on X, today, Wednesday, a video clip showing the commander of the Beit Hanoun Battalion in the Al-Qassam Brigades, Hussein Fayyad (Abu Hamza), about 8 months after the Israeli occupation army announced his assassination in a tunnel in the Jabalia camp in the northern Gaza Strip.

In the video, Hussein Fayyad talks about Gaza's victory over the occupation army in the war, which indicates that the clip is recent and was filmed after the ceasefire, which refutes the occupation army's announcement of his assassination on May 23.

Activist Bilal Nizar Rayyan, the son of a leader in the Qassam Brigades who was assassinated by Israel on January 1, 2009, wrote: “In an unexpected surprise and a painful blow to the enemy’s intelligence services, the commander of the Beit Hanoun Battalion, the mujahid brother Hussein Fayyad, appeared inspecting the city and comforting its people, despite the occupation announcing his martyrdom and targeting him several times previously.”

Palestinian researcher from Gaza, Saeed Ziad, wrote: “A legendary appearance of the leader with seven lives, Hussein Fayyad (Abu Hamza), commander of the Beit Hanoun Battalion, speaking about the concept of victory in war. It is worth noting that the spokesman for the enemy army, Daniel Hagari, announced his assassination on May 23, 2024, following a face-to-face clash with him in a tunnel in Jabalia.”

On May 23, an Israeli army spokesman said that the Israeli army and the General Security Service (Shabak) had killed “the commander of the Beit Hanoun Battalion in Hamas inside an underground complex in Jabalia.”

He added: "The 98th Division and special forces from the Air Force eliminated Hussein Fayyad, the commander of Hamas's Beit Hanoun Battalion, inside an underground tunnel. Fayyad was responsible for many of the anti-tank missile attacks on Israel during the war and for many of the mortar attacks on towns north of the Gaza envelope."

The appearance of the prominent leader of the Qassam Brigades in the recently published video clip undermines the occupation’s announcement of his assassination, which adds more “images of defeat” that the Israeli media referred to after the Qassam Brigades fighters went out in armed convoys during the first three days of the ceasefire.

In the last days of the war, the occupation army launched a new military operation in Beit Hanoun, north of the Gaza Strip. However, despite the lion's share of destruction that the city, located in the far north of the Strip near the Israeli "Erez" crossing, received, no less than 15 Israeli soldiers were killed in special operations carried out by the Al-Qassam Brigades.
