The number of martyrs rose in the large-scale attack launched by the occupation forces on Jenin, north of the West Bank, today, Tuesday, while the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) called for a general mobilization to confront the incursions that included large areas in the West Bank.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced this evening that 9 Palestinians were killed and about 40 others were injured as a result of the Israeli occupation's aggression on Jenin.

Earlier, the Israeli occupation army, the General Security Service (Shabak) and the Border Guard announced, in a brief statement, today, Tuesday, the launch of a military operation in Jenin under the name "Iron Wall", in a new aggression added to the series of Israeli violations against Palestinians in the West Bank.

The aggression began with the storming of the Al-Jabariyat neighborhood surrounding the Jenin camp, north of the city in the northern West Bank, this afternoon, by Israeli special forces, amid the sounding of sirens to alert the resistance fighters, while the Palestinian security forces withdrew from the vicinity of the camp.

As the occupation army announced the launch of its new aggression, a drone attacked a site in Jenin, and the occupation forces fired from an Apache helicopter at the camp.

Palestinian security spokesman Anwar Rajab also announced that a number of security personnel were injured, one of them seriously, by Israeli forces' bullets during their raid on Jenin.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said in a statement that the occupation forces are preventing its crews from reaching injured people inside Jenin camp after receiving reports of a number of wounded people.

Again, an Israeli occupation forces drone bombed a target in the Jenin camp in the northern West Bank on Tuesday afternoon, and no human casualties were reported as a result of the bombing, according to local sources.

The storming operation coincided with violent clashes between the resistance fighters and the occupation forces. The Jenin Battalion of the Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement, confirmed that its fighters were able to discover a special Israeli force that had infiltrated the Al-Hadaf neighborhood, and to subject it to a field of fire, achieving confirmed casualties.

This comes as the occupation army prepares to transfer forces from Gaza to the occupied West Bank, at a time when the Israeli Chief of Staff, Herzi Halevi, said yesterday, Monday, that the army must prepare to launch extensive military operations in the West Bank that may begin soon.

Hamas calls for mobilization

Hamas called on the masses of the Palestinian people in the West Bank and its revolutionary youth to mobilize and escalate the clashes with the Israeli occupation army at all points of contact with it, and to work to confuse it and thwart its extensive aggression on the city of Jenin and its camp.

Hamas mourned in a statement today, Tuesday, the martyrs of Jenin who were killed by the fire and shelling of the occupation, praising the bravery of the resistance fighters and their confrontation and clashes with the occupation soldiers and targeting them with explosive devices.

The movement said: "What is surprising is the behavior of the authority's apparatuses that withdrew from the vicinity of Jenin camp, coinciding with the start of the occupation's military operation, after a siege of the camp that lasted more than 48 days, and its disruption of the agreement with the resistance fighters until today, and its rejection of all national calls to stop its dangerous measures against the fighters and resistance fighters."

She added, "This military operation launched by the occupation in Jenin will fail, just as all its previous military operations against our steadfast people and their valiant resistance have failed, and the Palestinian will will not be broken in the face of the arrogance of the occupier, its crimes and its ongoing violations."

The operation comes as part of a broad escalation campaign launched by the occupation forces and settlers in the West Bank, following the start of implementing the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip the day before yesterday, Sunday.

Israeli media reported that this campaign reflects the promises made by Netanyahu to the far-right ministers to convince them not to withdraw from the government because of the Gaza agreement.

Channel 14 Israel explained that the operation in Jenin was launched by a decision from the political level following the meeting held by the Security Cabinet last Friday to approve the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, noting that the Cabinet decided in that meeting to include the West Bank among the war’s objectives.

Raids

Coinciding with the attack on Jenin, the occupation forces carried out extensive raids that included areas in occupied Jerusalem, Nablus and Qalqilya.

Al Jazeera quoted sources as saying that the occupation forces stormed the Shuafat camp east of Jerusalem, and also stormed the Masaken al-Shaabiya neighborhood east of Nablus, amid clashes and gunfire towards Palestinians.

At the same time, the occupation forces stormed the Mansour neighborhood in the town of Azzun, east of Qalqilya, and fired tear gas bombs at citizens' homes. The occupation forces arrested 5 Palestinians from the town of Beit Kahil, west of Hebron, according to the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA).
