Israel resumed its war on various parts of the Gaza Strip at dawn on Tuesday with a series of violent raids that left a number of people dead and wounded.
According to a statement by the Israeli army and the Shin Bet, "Based on instructions from the political echelon, we are launching a large-scale attack on Hamas targets in Gaza." The Israeli Prime Minister's Office said, "Netanyahu and Katz have directed the army to launch attacks in the Gaza Strip."
According to a statement by the Israeli government, "The attacks came after Hamas repeatedly refused to return our kidnapped soldiers and rejected offers from Witkov and mediators," adding, "We are now attacking Hamas in the Gaza Strip to achieve the war goals set by the political leadership."
