The Human Rights Office in Al-Duraihimi District, Al-Hodeidah Governorate (western Yemen) announced the death of a citizen and his son as a result of their injuries resulting from the explosion of a landmine left by the Houthi militia in the district.

The office said in a brief statement on its Facebook page that the citizen (Abdullah Jaber Mashhouri - 41 years old) and his son (Mohammed - 14 years old) died at five o'clock yesterday evening in Al-Thawra General Hospital in the city of Hodeidah, where they were taken for treatment.

Earlier on Tuesday, the office announced that "Mashhouri" and his son were seriously injured when a landmine left by the Houthi militia exploded on their motorcycle next to the Dakhnan Water Project, located west of the center of Al-Duraihimi District.

The Human Rights Office indicated that the region had witnessed, during the past few days, the planting of large quantities of mines by the Houthi militias, which poses an increasing threat to the lives of civilians, especially in agricultural areas on which citizens depend for their livelihood.
