Twenty-five people were killed and 22 others injured in US airstrikes targeting Sanaa and Saada. The strikes began Saturday evening, targeting the Al-Jarraf neighborhood in the capital, Sanaa. A second wave of airstrikes began Sunday morning, while US forces confirmed they were continuing their targeting of the Houthis in Yemen.
According to Houthi media reports monitored by Yemen Youth Net, 25 people were killed and 23 others injured in the past hours in Sana'a and Sa'dah. Meanwhile, airstrikes continue, according to US confirmations.
The death toll from the airstrikes was 13 in Sana'a, nine injured, 10 in a raid in the Qahza area north of Saada city, and 13 injured, in addition to two more dead, in the Al-Sha'af area in Saqayn district in Saada, according to Houthi media.
New wave of raids
US forces renewed their airstrikes on the capital, Sanaa, early Sunday morning, in a new wave of raids. Residents told Yemen Youth Net that the sound of an airstrike was heard across large parts of the capital, Sanaa.
Residents in the capital, Sanaa, said that "power was cut off in a number of neighborhoods simultaneously following the US raid."
According to Houthi media, early Sunday morning, a US airstrike targeted the Attan area, south of the capital, Sana'a, and the Jarban area in the Sanhan district, southeast of the capital, Sana'a.
Another airstrike targeted a power station in the city of Dhahyan and its suburbs, causing a power outage in Saada Governorate, northern Yemen, according to the Houthi-run Al Masirah channel.
The new wave of airstrikes comes hours after raids targeted the Al-Jarf neighborhood in Sanaa. Airstrikes also targeted five other governorates: Saada, Hajjah, Al Bayda, Marib, and Hajjah.
Continuation of US operations
"We are on alert 24/7 and deploying where it matters," the US Navy said, adding that the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier carried out deadly precision strikes on Houthi targets in Yemen on Saturday.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo discussed with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, US military deterrence operations against the Houthis in Yemen. In a statement, the State Department said that Rubio emphasized that the continued Houthi attacks on US military and commercial vessels in the Red Sea will not be tolerated.
A US official told Reuters that US military strikes on the Iran-aligned Houthi group in Yemen could last for days or even weeks.
President Donald Trump announced the start of the operation Saturday evening, warning that Houthi attacks on shipping in the Red Sea must stop or "you will see hell like you've never seen before."
Rubio said in this regard that the US response is a strong and clear message to the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorists in Yemen. He demanded an end to these attacks on US ships and global shipping, warning the Houthis that they would be held accountable.
US Central Command announced that operations by the Iran-backed Houthis are continuing, while the White House said that US President Donald Trump is standing up to "terrorism" to protect international trade.
The White House published photos of the US president monitoring operations against the Houthis, while US Central Command (CENTCOM) posted photos and videos on its X platform, claiming they were "of ongoing operations against the Iranian-backed Houthis."
