Abyan Police announce the release of a Russian citizen hours after his kidnapping in Al-Mahfad District

Abyan police announced on Wednesday the release of a Russian citizen hours after he was kidnapped by outlaws in the province in southern Yemen.

Abyan Security Department said in a statement, "The security services were able today to free a Russian citizen hours after he was kidnapped by elements outside the system and the law in the Al-Majalah area in Al-Mahfad District."

The statement explained that hours after the security administration received the report, the security forces surrounded the place where intelligence information confirmed the hostage was located in a mountainous area in Al-Maajlah in Al-Mahfad District.

He stated that "the hostage was released and a group of kidnappers were arrested and referred for investigation to determine the motives behind these acts that are alien to society," without further details about the identity of the Russian kidnapper and his work in Yemen.

Abyan Security Department warned anyone who dares to tamper with the security of the province through such actions that are not acceptable to Sharia and the law, expressing its thanks to all the social figures and sheikhs who supported the security forces in this mission.
