Fire breaks out at Al-Hali power station after Israeli airstrikes target it
A source in the electricity department of the city of Hodeidah, which is under the control of the Houthi militia (western Yemen), revealed significant damage to the city’s power generation stations, as a result of the Israeli bombing that targeted it last night.
Journalist Bassem Al-Janani quoted the source as saying that the bombing that targeted the current power station resulted in 90% of the station being damaged.
He added that the bombing that targeted Ras Katheeb station put it out of service, after it severely damaged the boiler control.
The source pointed out that the loads in Al Hudaydah Governorate are 42 mega, while there are currently 10 mega that will be distributed to only 50% of Al Hudaydah’s population.
Earlier on Sunday, the Israeli occupation army launched air strikes on power plants in Al-Hali and the port of Hodeidah, and also targeted oil tanks in the port of Ras Issa in the Hodeidah governorate on the Red Sea coast.
The Israeli army said in a statement: "In a large-scale air operation today (Sunday), dozens of aircraft attacked military targets of the Houthi regime (...) in the Ras Issa and Hodeidah areas in Yemen."
He added that he attacked "power stations and a seaport used to transport weapons," noting that the attack came in response to recent attacks carried out by the Houthis against Israel.
In addition to the material damage, the Israeli raids killed at least 4 people and injured 49 others, according to Houthi-affiliated media.
