A citizen was killed on Wednesday when a mine planted by the Houthi militia exploded in Ma'rib Governorate, northeast of Sana'a.

Local sources said that citizen "Abdullah Nasser Hussein" was killed by a Houthi mine explosion in the "Al-Daiq" area in the Sarwah district, Ma'rib governorate.

This comes amid the increasing number of civilian casualties in Yemen as a result of mines planted by the Houthi militia in a number of Yemeni governorates.

The Yemeni government accused the Houthi militia of planting more than two million mines, in a statistic it said was the largest since World War II.

It is noteworthy that 55 civilians were killed or injured by mines planted by the Houthis in Al Hudaydah Governorate alone in just seven months.
