Today, health workers in Ma'rib Governorate organized a protest to express their condemnation of the ongoing crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against hospitals and medical staff in the Gaza Strip, the latest of which was the storming and burning of Kamal Adwan Hospital last week.
The participants in the vigil condemned, in a statement issued by them, the Israeli violations, which they described as a full-fledged war crime, constituting a flagrant violation of international laws and conventions that guarantee the protection of health sector workers and criminalize targeting them during armed conflicts.
The statement expressed the participants' anger at the crime of storming and burning Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, which resulted in the martyrdom and injury of a number of workers and patients, and the arrest of others, including the hospital director, Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya.
The statement indicated that these crimes come as part of a systematic plan to destroy the health infrastructure and basic necessities of life in the Gaza Strip, with the aim of forcibly displacing the residents of the Strip.
The health sector workers in Marib also affirmed their full solidarity with their colleagues in Gaza, appreciating their steadfastness in the face of Israeli crimes and their insistence on continuing to perform their humanitarian duty despite the harsh conditions and dangers that threaten their lives.
The statement called on the international community, including the United Nations, the Security Council, and humanitarian and medical organizations, to assume their legal and moral responsibilities to pressure Israel to stop its crimes and ensure the entry of medical and humanitarian aid into besieged Gaza.
The statement called for urgent international intervention to provide protection for medical staff and hold the perpetrators of these crimes accountable in international courts, to ensure that they do not escape punishment.
