Marib.. Death of a child in a fire in Al-Jafina camp for displaced persons

A child died and others from the same family were injured at dawn on Wednesday, as a result of a fire that broke out in the home of one of the displaced persons in Al-Jafina camp in Ma'rib Governorate.

The Executive Unit for Displaced Persons in Marib said, "A fire broke out in the home of one of the displaced persons, believed to be the result of an electrical short circuit that led to the explosion of a gas cylinder, resulting in the death of a seven-year-old girl."

"The tragic accident resulted in the shelter burning completely, and the head of the family and one of the sons sustained minor burns," she added in a statement.

The Executive Unit called on the relevant authorities and humanitarian organizations to provide emergency support to affected families, including urgent shelter, food aid, health and psychological care.

During the year 2024, the total number of fires in Marib reached 207, resulting in the death of 3 people and the injury of 38 others, most of whom were women, children and the elderly, according to statistics from the Executive Unit for Displaced Persons.
