Minister of Health calls on the United Nations to direct funding for training, rehabilitation and support for health institutes

Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr. Qasim Buhaibeh, stressed on Sunday the necessity of directing the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to the fifth phase of training, rehabilitation and support for health institutes to produce a good health product.

This came during his meeting in the interim capital, Aden, with the Program Advisor at the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), Dr. Khaldoun Saleh, to discuss a number of issues related to their interventions in the health sector.

According to Saba News Agency, Buhaibeh called for the necessity of completing the infrastructure of Dr. Amin Nasher Institute and preparing various applied procedures with the aim of raising the level of cognitive awareness among students.

In this regard, he appreciated the positive interventions of UNOPS and the support provided by the German government and the German Development Bank (KfW) in various health sectors.

The meeting reviewed the interventions accomplished in the previous stages and the plans, ideas and visions related to the fifth stage. The meeting addressed the best directions for surveying the infrastructure of health facilities and establishments and preparing a study to determine capabilities.

In addition, the Minister of Health and a team from the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) were briefed on the progress of construction work on the infrastructure at Dr. Amin Nasser Institute.

They listened to an explanation from the Dean of the Institute, Dr. Jamal Amdhib, about what has been accomplished and the urgent needs of the Institute.

On another level, the Minister of Health inspected the progress of work and equipment at the National Center for Health and Population Education and Media in the interim capital, Aden, and listened from the Deputy Director General of the Center, Dr. Sadiq Al-Sayyadi, to the final touches to complete the rehabilitation of the new center for health and population education and media.

He stressed the need for achievement so that the center can carry out the awareness and educational tasks assigned to it towards society.
