Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Qasim Buhaibeh chaired an expanded meeting in the interim capital, Aden, on Monday to discuss ways to enhance health monitoring at airports and ensure their readiness to address cross-border health risks.
The meeting, attended by officials from the Ministry of Transport, the General Authority of Civil Aviation, directors of Aden International Airport, and experts from the World Health Organization, reviewed joint coordination mechanisms and ways to provide international vaccines and immunizations. It also discussed establishing an international travel and aviation health clinic and training healthcare personnel to address potential challenges.
Minister Buhaibeh emphasized the importance of collective action to achieve national and international health security, commending the efforts of the Health Emergency Management Department during the COVID-19 crisis and the role of Aden Airport in tightening health control measures, which has contributed to protecting the country from cross-border epidemics, including monkeypox.
