A recent human rights report revealed that the Iran-backed Houthi militia committed 7,885 violations against civilians in Yemen between January 2024 and March 2025.

The report, issued by the National Coalition for Independent Women, indicated that Taiz topped the list of violations with 941 cases, followed by the capital, Sana'a, with 878 violations, Hodeidah with 839, Sana'a with 830, Al Bayda with 805, and Ibb with 609 violations.

According to the report, the violations documented varied between killings, executions, arbitrary arrests, enforced disappearances, security prosecutions, and illegal raids targeting dissidents, journalists, and human rights activists.

He also pointed out that these violations reflect a systematic pattern of disregard for international humanitarian law.

The report focused on crimes that constitute a flagrant violation of the right to life and physical integrity, as well as violations against women and children, which include the six grave violations stipulated in international law, such as forced recruitment, sexual violence, and attacks on schools and hospitals.

According to the report, human rights teams documented horrific crimes against the most vulnerable groups, including: the killing of 69 children and 38 women, the injury of 138 children and 42 women, the abduction of 16 children and 32 women, the forced recruitment of children and their use as human shields, and the deprivation of millions of Yemenis of food and humanitarian aid.

In this regard, the National Coalition of Independent Women held the Houthi militia fully responsible for these violations, asserting that they amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity. These violations include: premeditated murder, torture, arbitrary arrests, forced displacement, child recruitment, the planting of mines, indiscriminate shelling with missiles and heavy weapons, and the targeting of homes, health facilities, and educational facilities.

The report called on the international community to: pressure the Houthi militia to release detainees and abductees, hold those responsible for these crimes accountable in accordance with international law, implement Security Council Resolution 2216, halt Iranian arms supplies, and provide urgent relief to the displaced and affected.

The human rights coalition emphasized that international silence encourages the militia to commit further crimes, exacerbating the suffering of victims and undermining efforts to achieve justice.
