The city of Hodeidah, the provincial capital under the control of the terrorist Houthi militia in western Yemen, has been suffering from a severe shortage of drinking water since the beginning of Ramadan. This comes after the militia halted water supply to most of the city's neighborhoods, and major wells were contaminated with sewage.

Local authorities' state media quoted local residents as saying they were struggling to obtain clean drinking water after the public water supply was halted and the city's main wells were contaminated with sewage water. This was the result of excavation work carried out by the Houthi militia, believed to be aimed at constructing tunnels for military purposes.

Citizens complained about the lack of intervention by officials appointed by the Houthi militia to manage the water project. They expressed growing fears of the spread of diseases caused by the scarcity of clean water, especially given the deteriorating health conditions they face.

Residents called on international and humanitarian organizations to urgently intervene to provide the necessary support and water, warning that the continuation of the crisis could lead to dire consequences that threaten their lives.
