Saudi Arabia announced that the number of pilgrims and visitors to the Two Holy Mosques during the month of Ramadan exceeded 122 million, including pilgrims and worshippers at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque.
The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque announced this in a statement on Sunday, carried by the Saudi Press Agency on Monday.
The statement indicated that the number of pilgrims and visitors to the Two Holy Mosques during the month of Ramadan for the year 1446 AH reached 122 million, 286 thousand, and 712 people.
The number of pilgrims during Ramadan reached 16,558,241, while a total of 75,573,928 Muslims prayed in the Grand Mosque, while the number of worshippers in the Prophet’s Mosque reached 30,154,543 Muslims.
It's worth noting that the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque uses advanced technology based on sensor readers to monitor the number of worshippers and pilgrims visiting the Sacred House on the grounds of the main entrances to the Grand Mosque.
This comes as part of a move aimed at increasing operational efficiency by monitoring flows and crowds and improving their effective management in partnership with relevant authorities, according to the statement.
