The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) announced on Sunday that it has received funding from the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development in the amount of 1.5 million US dollars to support primary health care services in Yemen.

UNICEF said in a statement that this support will enhance its humanitarian initiatives in Yemen and ensure the provision of basic health services to the most vulnerable groups of women, girls and boys across the country.

According to the organization, Kuwaiti support aims to improve access to health care, a vital priority in Yemen where millions of people are still in dire need of these services, which are considered a lifeline for them.

UNICEF stressed that strengthening national health systems through primary health care services will have a positive impact on providing basic services and well-being to communities, contributing to achieving better health outcomes for all.

For his part, UNICEF Representative in Yemen, Peter Hawkins, praised the generous contribution from Kuwait, which he described as coming at a crucial time to support Yemeni children and families, stressing that this funding will contribute to maintaining essential health care services.

UNICEF called on the international community to follow Kuwait's example and continue to support efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people in these exceptional circumstances.
