The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has confirmed high rates of stunting in Yemen among children under the age of two, especially among poor families.
In a post on her X account on Tuesday, she stated that stunting rates among children in poor households in the country reach more than 60%, stressing that "investing in nutrition can break the cycle of poverty."
UNICEF explained that Raymah Governorate, which is under Houthi control in northern Yemen, has the highest rate of stunting among children in the country.
The organization reported that 69% of children in Raymah Governorate suffer from stunting, the highest rate among Yemeni governorates.
She noted that many families in this mountainous province, affected by the conflict that has been ongoing for more than ten years, face persistent shortages of essentials such as food, water, and medicine.
