Aden: Yemen Youth Net
Traffic accidents that took place on various roads in the liberated regions and governorates during the first week of the current year 2025, claimed the lives of 13 people.
According to the Security Media Center, 9 people were killed in traffic accidents in Lahj Governorate, including five people who died in a bus accident last Saturday.
According to the center, the other four deaths were distributed between two deaths in the interim capital, Aden, one death in Abyan Governorate, and one death in Lahj Governorate.
Traffic accidents recorded during the same period resulted in 111 injuries, 68 of whom were described as serious, and their material losses amounted to more than 22 million and 500 thousand riyals.
The traffic police attributed the causes of the accidents to violations of traffic rules and laws, most notably exceeding the speed limit, wrong and dangerous overtaking, and being distracted from the road, in addition to neglecting maintenance and not checking the technical suitability of the vehicle and its readiness before driving.
The Security Media Center of the Yemeni Ministry of Interior announced last week that about 5,000 people were killed in accidents in the liberated areas during the past year 2024.
