Yemen: Nearly half of the population in government-controlled areas suffered from inadequate food consumption last month

A recent UN report revealed that nearly half of the families in areas controlled by the Yemeni government suffered from insufficient food consumption last October.
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations ( FAO ) said in a report issued on Tuesday that nearly half of families in the areas of the Yemeni government (49.7%) suffered from insufficient food consumption, the lowest level in the past three months.
In contrast, the organization stated that 40% of families faced insufficient food consumption in areas under the control of the Houthi militia.
The organization explained that severe food deprivation, as measured by poor food consumption, worsened in government-controlled areas, where it rose to an alarming level of 24%.
She pointed out that 69% of families in Houthi-controlled areas reported losing their income, compared to 54% in government-controlled areas.
The organization stressed the need to distribute emergency food aid and provide livelihoods urgently and urgently in the most affected areas.
