Local sources in Sanaa and close to travelers said that the Houthi militia prevented the Yemeni Airlines plane from taking off to Amman International Airport, despite the sale of all tickets for the flight.
According to the sources, dozens of passengers had their scheduled flight scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, which the company announced earlier, weeks after the Houthi hijacking of four Yemeni Airlines planes, was disrupted. Then, last weekend, they announced that an agreement had been reached regarding the return of flights through Omani mediation.
Muhammad Al-Ghobari, Reuters correspondent in Yemen, said that the Houthi militia requires adding a new destination for Sanaa Airport to Cairo International Airport to allow flights heading to Amman in Jordan to take off from the airport.
Al-Houthi recently vowed to target Saudi airports, in response to what he called the targeting of Sanaa Airport.
Al-Houthi recently seized more than $100 million from the balances of Yemeni Airlines and prevented the maintenance of one of its planes at Sanaa Airport. Then, after the Hajj, he seized three other planes before releasing them through Omani mediation.
