Yemen Youth - Follow-ups
The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, stressed the importance of doubling international pressure on the Houthi militia, especially by classifying it as a terrorist organization and drying up its sources of funding and arming.
This came during his meeting today, Sunday, with the head of the Bureau of Counterterrorism for South, Central and East Asia at the US State Department, Jesse Levinson, and the US Ambassador to Yemen, Stephen Fagin.
According to Saba News Agency, Al-Alimi stressed during the meeting the need to enhance cooperation between Yemen and the United States in the field of combating terrorism and organized crime, including confronting the threats posed by the Houthi militia and the organizations allied with it.
The meeting also addressed, according to the agency, serious human rights violations, attacks, and piracy on Iranian-backed shipping vessels.
Al-Alimi also reviewed government reforms in the security field, law enforcement agencies, and anti-terrorism and money laundering authorities, stressing the need for international support to enhance Yemeni capabilities in confronting security threats.
