The discussions also touched on the importance of enhancing economic stability through cooperation between the parties to reduce the broad negative impacts affecting various aspects of Yemenis’ lives, and to contribute to alleviating the economic burdens that cast a shadow over livelihoods.
The statement added that during all meetings, the impact of regional escalation on Yemen's stability was discussed, as well as the importance of continued and unified support from regional parties and all permanent members of the Security Council for the UN-led peace process.
He continued: "The discussions covered a series of political dialogues held by the UN envoy's office with various Yemeni parties and civil society, which aim to gather diverse viewpoints on political, economic and security issues, and seek to build momentum towards a peaceful solution to the conflict."
The statement indicated that "the need to continue working closely with the United Nations was emphasized to transform the understandings reached last July in the Sultanate of Oman into concrete measures aimed at releasing all detainees for reasons related to the conflict, in accordance with the principle of 'all for all'. The ongoing efforts and results achieved by local mediators in order to release detainees were also highlighted."
The statement concluded by stressing that the meetings held in Aden and Sana'a focused on the issue of the Houthis' detention of UN staff, NGOs, civil society, and diplomats, as the envoy's office renewed the UN's ongoing calls and efforts for their immediate and unconditional release.
