Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Shaye Al-Zindani, discussed today, Sunday, with the head of the United Nations Mission to support the Hodeidah Agreement (UNMHA), retired Major General Michael Perry, the Houthi threats to international navigation and mine clearance efforts in Hodeidah Governorate.
The Yemeni Foreign Ministry said that Minister Al-Zindani was informed by the UN official about the mission's activities and issues related to its tasks, and the path to harmonizing its work in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions.
She added that the Minister addressed the Houthi threats to international navigation, and stressed the need to take firm positions against arms smuggling operations to the Houthi militias.
The Minister stressed the importance of the mission's work to support the government's efforts to remove the mines that the militias planted densely and randomly in Hodeidah.
For his part, the head of the United Nations mission expressed his appreciation for the cooperation and support of the government and local authorities in the liberated directorates of Hodeidah, stressing the mission's commitment to work in accordance with its mandate and its readiness to address all challenges and problems in partnership with the Yemeni government.
In recent weeks, the Houthi militia has intensified its violations against civilians in Al Hudaydah Governorate, coinciding with the deployment of large military forces to the coastal governorate and the establishment of military developments, while continuing its Houthi attacks targeting international traffic.
The local authority in Al Hudaydah Governorate and the Yemeni government accuse the UN mission of colluding with the Houthi militia and not doing its duty in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions.
