The Supreme Authority of the Yemeni Congregation for Reform confirmed, on Tuesday, its objection and strong rejection of the US Treasury Department’s announcement, issued yesterday, Monday, which stipulates imposing sanctions on a member of the Supreme Authority for Reform, a member of the House of Representatives, and a member of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission, Sheikh Hamid bin Abdullah bin Hussein al-Ahmar.
The Supreme Reform Committee expressed - in a statement published on the party's website, "Islah Net" - its strong dissatisfaction and rejection of the US Treasury Department's announcement of imposing sanctions on Sheikh Hamid al-Ahmar, on the pretext of his support for the Palestinian cause.
The statement said that this decision was issued arbitrarily and unjustly, as it aims to criminalize political and popular sympathy with the Palestinian cause and to intimidate those who condemn the genocidal massacres practiced by the Zionist entity against the people of Gaza, which were condemned by the free people of the world, including the friendly American people, who expressed their condemnation of the genocidal war carried out by the Zionist entity against the Palestinian people, and expressed their support for the right of the Palestinian people to resist the Israeli occupation, which is guaranteed by international law and the United Nations Charter.
He called on the US Treasury to cancel this unjust and biased decision, which targeted a national figure with a rich record in political history and struggle locally and regionally, and who stands by the main issues of the Arab and Islamic nations, devoting his efforts in various paths tirelessly, following the approach of his late father, Sheikh Abdullah bin Hussein Al-Ahmar, whose fingerprints are known to everyone locally and regionally.
He also called on the Presidential Leadership Council, the government, the parliament, the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission, and all Yemeni state institutions to assume their responsibility in defending Sheikh Hamid Al-Ahmar, who did not violate any law in force in the Republic of Yemen, which supports the Palestinian cause.
The Supreme Reform Commission called on political parties, national and societal components, and civil society organizations to reject this decision, condemn it, and demand its cancellation. It called on political and national forces and parties, and civil society organizations in sisterly and friendly countries, to condemn this unjust decision and demand its cancellation.
The Supreme Reform Commission reiterated its permanent support for the Palestinian people and their just cause, and their legitimate right to defend themselves and resist the occupation by all legitimate means guaranteed by international law and the United Nations Charter until the Israeli occupation is defeated and the independent Palestinian state is established with Jerusalem as its capital.
