The Yemeni Shura Council on Tuesday condemned the sanctions imposed by the US Treasury Department on Member of Parliament and businessman Sheikh Hamid Al-Ahmar and a number of his companies, calling on the Yemeni government to follow up on the issue diplomatically to review the decision.

The Authority stressed that the attempt to silence a parliamentarian like Sheikh Al-Ahmar is not acceptable to the House of Representatives or the Yemeni people, calling on the US Treasury to reconsider it urgently.

Yemeni parliamentarian and businessman Sheikh Hamid bin Abdullah Al-Ahmar confirmed that the US decision announced by the US Treasury to impose sanctions against him and nine of his companies will not deter him from continuing his support for the Palestinian cause.

The political parties warned against any bowing before the terrorism of international blackmail aimed at forcing supporters of the Palestinian cause to abandon it in one way or another.

The Islah Party called on the US Treasury to cancel this unjust and biased decision, which targeted a national figure with a long record of political and struggle history locally and regionally, and who stands with the main issues of the Arab and Islamic nations.

Today, Monday, the US Treasury included the Yemeni parliamentarian and businessman Sheikh Hamid Al-Ahmar and 9 of his companies on the sanctions list on the pretext of his support for the Hamas movement.
