Exclusive: Yemen Youth Net - Follow-ups
The Russian Federation confirmed that there is no alternative to a political solution to end the conflict that has been ongoing in Yemen for ten years.
This came in a statement by the Russian Embassy in our country, following talks held by the UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin.
The statement explained that the expanded talks - which concluded Thursday in Moscow - addressed the importance of advancing political processes in Yemen, despite the growing geography of instability in the Middle East.
The two sides stressed the need for active international efforts to correct the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the country and resume work on the "road map" for the Yemeni settlement, according to the statement.
The talks touched on the situation in the Red Sea in light of the Houthi attacks, and stressed the importance of the safety of international shipping. At the same time, the Russian side pointed out that the strikes on Yemeni territory by the so-called international coalition led by the United States and Britain operating in the Red Sea "are a violation of international law and delay the possibility of achieving peace in Yemen."
According to the statement, the two sides stressed that "there is no alternative to the political and diplomatic method to resolve the conflict between Yemenis," taking into account the involvement of all political forces in the country in that process.
