South Korean Ambassador Do Kye-Kong praised the vital role played by the Supreme Council of Popular Resistance in Yemen, reiterating his country's commitment to supporting Yemen's unity and legitimate authority.

This came during a video meeting held today, Wednesday, with the head of the Supreme Council for Popular Resistance, Sheikh Hamoud Saeed Al-Mikhlafi, where the ambassador affirmed his country's interest in enhancing cooperation with the council in various fields.

Ambassador Kai Kong pointed to the role of South Korea, as a non-permanent member of the Security Council and chair of the Yemen Sanctions Team, in advancing efforts towards achieving peace and stability in the region.

For his part, Sheikh Hamoud Saeed Al-Mikhlafi expressed his appreciation for the support provided by South Korea to Yemen, especially in the areas of humanitarian and development aid, stressing the importance of bilateral relations between the two countries.

Al-Mikhlafi also reviewed the national and political role played by the Supreme Council of Popular Resistance in facing challenges, pointing out the Council's efforts to achieve sustainable peace in light of the intransigence of the Houthi group.

The meeting touched on the Council’s humanitarian activities, including medical and relief programmes, such as the “Arab Council for Prosthetics” initiative and the “Professionalism” Institute, which have contributed to supporting more than a thousand people with disabilities.

The meeting was attended by a number of members of the Council's political body and the Foreign Relations Officer, where the humanitarian situation and current political developments in Yemen were discussed.
