The draw for the European qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup was held on Friday, which resulted in difficult groups and others that were within reach on paper for the major teams in the struggle to qualify for the World Cup.
The teams participating in the European qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup were divided into 12 groups, six of which consisted of four teams, and six of which consisted of five teams.
The first group | Winner of Germany vs Italy, Slovakia, Northern Ireland, Luxembourg. |
Group Two | Switzerland, Sweden, Slovenia, Kosovo. |
Group 3 | The loser of the match between Portugal and Denmark, Greece, Scotland, Belarus. |
Group 4 | Winner of France vs Croatia, Ukraine, Iceland, Azerbaijan. |
Group Five | Winner of Spain vs Netherlands, Türkiye, Georgia, Bulgaria. |
Group 6 | Winner of Portugal vs Denmark, Hungary, Republic of Ireland, Armenia. |
Group Seven | Loser of Spain vs Netherlands, Poland, Finland, Lithuania, Malta. |
Group Eight | Austria, Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus, San Marino. |
Group Nine | The loser of the match between Germany and Italy, Norway, Estonia, Moldova. |
Group 10 | Belgium, Wales, North Macedonia, Kazakhstan, Liechtenstein. |
Group Eleven: | England, Serbia, Albania, Latvia, Andorra. |
Group Twelve: | The loser of the match between France and Croatia, Czech Republic, Montenegro, Faroe Islands, Gibraltar. |

The groups include a team from each of the existing levels, with Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland in the first level, taking into account the results of the European Nations League quarter-final matches.
The rules stipulated that the winner of each group would qualify directly for the World Cup.
The remaining four places on the continent will be determined through a European play-off competition that will include 16 teams, 12 of which are the runners-up in the groups and the remaining four are the highest-ranked teams in the UEFA Nations League.
