It was on its way to Egypt.. A Chinese ship cuts communication cables in Northern Europe
World| 20 November, 2024 - 7:09 PM
Maritime tracking sites indicate that the Chinese ship stopped near the location of the cable cut (Reuters).
Although a Chinese official confirmed that his country "attaches great importance to protecting the infrastructure on the seabed," the recurrence of incidents caused by Chinese ships has increased the level of tension, prompting German Defense Minister Boris Potreaus to state that the damage to the two undersea communications cables may have been "resulting from sabotage activity, which falls within the framework of hybrid warfare."
But the German minister did not specify the responsibility of the parties waging this war. At the same time, the defense ministers of Sweden and Lithuania, in a joint statement, expressed their deep concern about the incident, which coincides with the continuation of the Russian war in Ukraine.
