Aden...the anniversary of victory and liberation

Our Writers| 29 March, 2025 - 10:36 AM

The anniversary of the liberation of Aden, a history that counts the breaths of resistance, the heroism of the youth, and the battles of the advance to liberate the neighborhoods of Aden from the Houthi militia. In the year 2015, Ramadan was a memory of victory, and the Night of Power, the liberation, in which faith and determination came together, the voice of supplication was present with the hail of bullets, the streets were squares of standing, and the minarets resounded with the glorification of God and chanted victory; the memory of the liberation of Aden and the scenes of pursuing the remnants of the Houthis, and the victory of the youth of Aden supported by the army and the coalition over the Houthi militia armed with state weapons that they looted from Sana'a until they reached Aden.

Ten years have passed since the liberation of the temporary capital, Aden. We remember the great sacrifices of the heroic leaders, the young men who armed themselves for the first time and engaged in a battle of dignity. They bravely confronted the killing machine and a bloodthirsty militia that knew nothing but killing. They found the courage of the heroes of the resistance and the courage of something they had not expected from the people of Aden, and they were defeated and routed.

The young men of Aden rose up in the battle for Aden, and leaders advanced the ranks, arriving at a time when many others had disappeared. Their presence was a morale boost that increased the enthusiasm of the youth, and the fedayeen resistance fighters emerged from every house, every neighborhood, and every district. They were not intimidated by the random bombardment, nor did they take into account the elite military divisions with their sophisticated armament.

The anniversary of the liberation of Aden is a reminder of a sacred battle for dignity, a history that needs to be documented, with no room for outbidding or climbers, sacrifices that demand loyalty, militias that are still lurking in Aden, and an imposed reality that cannot be accepted.

Victory is glory, sacrifice is its fuel, principles are steadfast, men are present and steadfast, and the history of the heroic leaders who were present in the hour of difficulty cannot be erased. The anniversary of liberation brings back the political presence of Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi, Vice President of the Presidential Leadership Council, the positions of the resistance leader Sheikh Nayef Al-Bakri, and the late hero Brigadier General Abdullah Al-Subaihi, a trio in which political cover and the spirit of resistance combined with military experience, diplomatic action, and administrative arrangement, so Aden ignited resistance. They had no choice but to roll up their sleeves for the resounding victory that God granted them in the best of months, the best of days, and the most honorable of nights. Aden was all a flame of resistance, watering its soil with the blood of its best sons. It deserved to be cleansed of the filth of the militia and achieved victory and liberation.

We are rightfully proud of the liberation of Aden from the Houthi militias on its tenth anniversary, when the city witnessed and documented the Night of Power and every free person in Yemen lived the joy of victory. It is Aden that inspires us with victory and brings us closer to liberation.
