The Israeli occupation army announced on Saturday that it had carried out an air strike in southern Syria, claiming that it had targeted a weapons depot belonging to the Islamic Resistance Movement "Hamas".
The Israeli army said in a statement: "The Israeli Air Force carried out an air strike based on intelligence information confirming the presence of a weapons storage warehouse belonging to the terrorist Hamas movement in the Deir Ali area in southern Syria."
The statement added that the occupation army "will continue to dismantle Hamas' capabilities on all fronts, and will work to confront any attempts by terrorist organizations to establish their presence or strengthen their forces," according to its description.
For its part, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that Israeli air strikes targeted areas south of the capital, Damascus, where military vehicles and the entrance to a residential area were bombed, in addition to a military clinic where Palestinian militants and members of Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham are believed to be present.
In turn, the spokesman for the occupation army, Avichay Adraee, confirmed via the "X" platform (formerly Twitter), that Israeli warplanes raided on Saturday what he described as "a weapons depot belonging to the Hamas movement in the Deir Ali area in southern Syria."
Adraee claimed that the weapons stored in the warehouse were "intended for carrying out terrorist attacks against IDF forces," accusing Hamas of "exploiting Syrian territory to establish terrorist activities under Iranian guidance."
Since the outbreak of the Syrian revolution in 2011, the Israeli occupation has carried out hundreds of air strikes on Syrian territory, most of them against targets linked to Iran.
After the fall of the deposed regime of Bashar al-Assad, the occupation carried out the largest air strikes outside the occupied Palestinian territories, on Syrian military installations, claiming that this came within the framework of its efforts to prevent these capabilities from falling into the hands of hostile parties.
The Israeli air force also previously targeted the Tal al-Manea site, which contains various types of missiles, while the occupation continues its Israeli attacks on Syrian territory.
Earlier this month, an Israeli drone bombed a military vehicle belonging to the Military Operations Department near the village of Suwaysa in the Quneitra countryside, killing two members of the military patrol and a civilian.
In a related context, the Israeli occupation forces continued their incursions into the villages and towns of Quneitra Governorate in southwestern Syria, where units of the occupation army entered the village of Al-Muallaqa last Tuesday, accompanied by armored military vehicles, and carried out illegal searches in the homes of the residents, which raised a state of anxiety and fear among the residents.
It is worth noting that the Syrian armed opposition led an armed attack that resulted in the overthrow of the deposed Bashar al-Assad on December 8, 2024.
