The US president had proposed a plan to displace the residents of Gaza to Egypt and Jordan, and said that they would accept the matter, despite the two countries’ categorical rejection of the displacement of the Palestinians. The Egyptian and Jordanian sides fear that Washington will increase its pressure on them to accept the controversial proposal.

The upcoming Arab summit aims to support the content of the six-party statement that was concluded by the meeting of the six Arab countries in Cairo last week (Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, the Emirates and Palestine), which is related to reaffirming the constants of the Palestinian cause, supporting the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people related to the land and rejecting temporary or permanent displacement. In the statement, the countries announced an understanding on an Arab vision to implement humanitarian support in the Gaza Strip, and to accelerate reconstruction as an option that contributes to stabilizing the population in Gaza, in addition to encouraging all Palestinian forces to reunify institutions and affirming their readiness to support the two-state solution path.
