Yemeni Interior Ministry announces the arrest of 1,700 suspects in criminal cases during last January

The Yemeni Ministry of Interior announced that the security services in the liberated governorates were able to arrest 1,715 suspects in various crimes and criminal cases during the month of January.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry’s Security Media, based on daily reports issued by the General Administration of Command and Control, the police forces recorded 1,835 crimes during the same period, and succeeded in controlling 1,600 crimes, at a rate of 87%.
The crimes recorded included 24 premeditated murders, one unintentional murder, 42 attempted murders, 377 intentional assaults, and 63 drug-related crimes, including possession, promotion, and use.
As for the geographical distribution of the arrested suspects, Taiz came in first place with 441 suspects, followed by Marib with 297 suspects, then Hadhramaut Coast with 260 suspects, Lahj with 158 suspects, Aden with 149 suspects, Shabwa with 114 suspects, Ad Dali’ with 78 suspects, Al Mahrah with 64 suspects, Hadhramaut Valley and Desert with 63 suspects, Hajjah with 35 suspects, Abyan with 33 suspects, and Al Hudaydah with 21 suspects, while two suspects were arrested in the Socotra Archipelago.
Investigations attributed the causes of the crimes to illicit gains, personal ambitions, weak moral restraint, tribal blood feuds, financial and family disputes, land disputes, the spread of weapons, drug abuse, in addition to the deteriorating psychological, economic and social conditions.
The Ministry of Interior confirmed its continued efforts to combat crime and enhance security and stability in all governorates.
