79 criminal suspects arrested in liberated governorates, Taiz police investigate intentional crimes

The Yemeni Ministry of Interior announced today, Friday, the arrest of 79 criminal suspects in various cases in the liberated governorates during the past 24 hours.

This came in a statement by the police departments affiliated with the ministry, according to what was stated by the Security Media Center.

According to the statement, the police departments in the liberated governorates received 71 reports yesterday regarding various criminal cases, and were able to detect 51 crimes within 24 hours.

She pointed out that efforts and search and investigation procedures are still ongoing in the governorates of Taiz, Aden, Hadramaut Coast and Valley, Shabwa, Al Dhale, and Hodeidah regarding 20 crimes to uncover their circumstances and arrest the perpetrators.

The report explained that the security situation issued by the command and control distributed the crimes detected between: 18 crimes of minor and serious intentional harm, 5 crimes of various thefts, 3 crimes of assault on property of others, 3 crimes of possession, and use of narcotic substances.

The report added that there were 3 crimes of threat, 3 crimes of breach of trust, 2 crimes of premeditated murder, attempted murder, violation of the sanctity of a residence, damage to public funds, 1 crime of shooting, fraud, deliberate swindling, arson, insult and abuse, harassment, disobedience to parents, and a fight.

The police forces arrested 79 suspects distributed among the governorates as follows: Taiz Governorate 33 suspects, Hadramaut Coast Governorate 15 suspects, Ma'rib Governorate 13 suspects, Hadramaut Valley 5 suspects, Ad Dali Governorate 4 suspects, the interim capital Aden 3 suspects, Lahj Governorate 3 suspects, Abyan Governorate 2 suspects, and Shabwa Governorate 1 suspect.

Reports indicated that the arrested suspects were being held pending legal proceedings for the crimes attributed to them.

In a related context, the police forces in Al-Ma'afer District in Taiz Governorate said that they opened a large-scale investigation into the crime of an arson that broke out in the house of citizen Abdul Rahman Ali Muhammad Al-Ajam, which resulted in the death of his two-year-old son (Hassan) and the injury of his eight-year-old daughter (Amoura) with suffocation and the burning of all the furniture in the house.

The Security Media Center quoted the police as saying: "It arrested 15 people from the residents of the Buraidah area on charges of the arson crime and detained them pending legal procedures and investigation into the crime."

She pointed out that the information indicates that people, including two women, burned down the house of citizen Abdul Rahman Al-Ajam by spraying petrol and setting fire to the house, which resulted in these criminal consequences.
