Yemeni Interior Ministry announces the detection of more than 13,000 criminal crimes in the liberated governorates during 2024

The Yemeni Ministry of Interior announced, on Wednesday, that it had detected more than 13,000 criminal crimes out of 20,000 crimes it recorded during the past year 2024 AD in the liberated governorates.

This came during a press conference in the interim capital, Aden, in which the Director of the Security Media Center, Captain Haitham Al-Jaradi, reviewed the achievements made during the past year 2024 AD, in various sectors, interests, departments and police of the liberated governorates.

Al-Jaradi explained that the achievements included all security, police, service and humanitarian fields, reflecting a strategic and integrated security vision developed by the Ministry of Interior, led by the Minister of Interior, Major General Ibrahim Haidan.

He stressed that the Ministry has worked to continue the process of developing and modernizing the security services and paying attention to training and qualifying human cadres to ensure efficiency and readiness in various circumstances.

It also focused on enhancing innovation in security methods to keep pace with renewed threats in combating organized crime, terrorism and cross-border crimes, in addition to the process of developing services provided to citizens and improving and simplifying procedures in service departments.

He said that the security services recorded 20,641 criminal crimes in combating crime, of which 13,619 were detected and 7,022 crimes were included in the list of crimes that were rotated during the year 2025 AD, and investigation and research are still ongoing to detect them, while non-criminal incidents amounted to 1,108 non-criminal incidents.

Al-Jaradi pointed out that the total movements of the security units during the past year reached 728,436 security movements, during which 1,386 wanted persons and violators were arrested, as well as 21,796 weapons.

He pointed out that the Ministry has made efforts to digitize many services and use modern technology and advanced techniques to keep our country pace with technological development, noting that the Ministry of Interior will launch the smart electronic card project at the end of 2023 AD.

The Director of the Security Media Center explained that during the year 2024 AD, the project was completed in all liberated governorates as one of the most important strategic projects due to its importance in combating corruption and dual employment in state institutions.

Al-Jaradi also reported that 4,190 traffic accidents were recorded, an increase of 12 percent over last year, and were completely controlled, while the accidents resulted in the death of 492 people and the injury of 3,292 others.

He stated that the material losses from accidents amounted to five billion, 571 million, and 675 thousand riyals, while the number of traffic violations in the liberated governorates amounted to 35 thousand and 444 violations.

Regarding the total number of arrivals and departures through sea, land and air ports, the Director of the Security Media Center stated that it reached 3 million, 366 thousand and 793 passengers during 2024.

The number of arrivals reached 1,551,313 passengers, including 1,355,669 Yemenis, 119,516 Arabs, and 76,128 foreigners, while the number of departures reached 1,612,123 Yemeni passengers, 127,784 Arab passengers, and 75,573 foreign passengers.

He also reviewed the areas of civil police services, where the Civil Status and Civil Registry Authority issued 344,421 smart electronic personal cards, 66,873 family cards, 154,938 birth certificates, including 301 birth certificates for foreigners, and 11,880 death certificates, including 37 death certificates for foreigners, in addition to the Civil Defense Authority extinguishing 226 fires in the liberated governorates, resulting in 10 deaths.

The Director of the Security Media Center confirmed that the Ministry of Interior has paid great attention to strengthening the relationship between security personnel and citizens by implementing a group of effective awareness programs and enhancing community awareness through security television programs, national media campaigns, and coverage of all security activities.

At the end of the press conference, Al-Jaradi stressed the importance of the success of the mobilization campaign for the first quarter of this year to enhance security readiness and prepare to defeat the terrorist Houthi militia and end the Houthi coup, as time has become available and the Houthis feel their tragic end is very near.
