The Ministry of Interior approves 19 applications for Yemeni citizenship

Today, Thursday, the Yemeni Nationality Committee approved the acceptance of 19 applications for Yemeni nationality, in accordance with Law No. 6 of 1990 regarding Yemeni nationality.

This came during its regular meeting for the year 2025, on Thursday, in the interim capital, Aden, headed by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for the Civil Services Sector, Major General Abdul Majeed Barak Al-Amiri, and in the presence of all members of the committee, according to what was published by the Ministry of Interior website.

During the meeting, the committee approved 19 applications for Yemeni citizenship, in accordance with Law No. (6) of 1990, in addition to discussing a number of topics included in the agenda.

It also approved a set of recommendations related to citizenship applications, in preparation for submitting them to the Minister of Interior, who will then submit them to the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council to issue the necessary decisions regarding them.

Major General Al Ameri stressed the importance of holding periodic meetings to decide on the files of citizenship applicants, while emphasizing the examination of documents and preparation of files before the sessions are held to facilitate procedures and ensure the speed of transactions.

Observers believe that the majority of applications for Yemeni citizenship are from foreigners married to Yemeni women.

It is noteworthy that the Yemeni law regulating nationality rights is balanced in its regulation of granting nationality, as it takes into account the rights of individuals while preserving the national interest.
