Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the airstrikes launched by the occupation army on the Gaza Strip early Tuesday morning were "just the beginning." The Israeli raids have already killed more than 420 Palestinians and are still ongoing.
In a televised address, he said, "His government will continue the war until all detainees are freed, Hamas is eliminated, and Gaza is guaranteed not to pose a threat to Israel." He added, "Nothing will prevent us from achieving the goals of the war on Gaza...and military pressure is a prerequisite for the release of the kidnapped."
Netanyahu claimed that the resumption of the war "was decided after Hamas rejected all proposals, and therefore, from now on, negotiations will be conducted under fire." He also claimed that "proposals were presented to the mediators, and we agreed to the proposal of the US envoy, Steve Witkoff."
Hamas also affirmed that it did not reject the proposal of US Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff, and that Netanyahu had resumed his genocidal war on the Gaza Strip "to sabotage the agreement" signed last January.
Hamas spokesman Abdel Latif al-Qanou said in a statement, "The movement is in constant contact with mediators and is dealing responsibly and positively with whatever is proposed to stop the aggression and lift the siege."
He added, "Witkoff's proposal was on the negotiating table, and Hamas did not reject it and responded positively to it. Netanyahu resumed the war to sabotage the agreement." He continued, "The occupation closed the crossings, tightened the siege, prevented the entry of aid, and rejected the second-stage negotiations, seeking to overturn the agreement and resume the war."
Hamas calls for a siege of Israeli embassies
On Tuesday evening, the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) called on Arab and Islamic peoples and free people around the world to "take urgent action" and actively participate in the siege of Israeli and American embassies in various capitals around the world.
The movement affirmed in a statement that this step comes "in response to the Israeli government's resumption of its military aggression and its reversal of the ceasefire agreement, flouting all international and humanitarian laws and norms."
Taher al-Nunu, media advisor to the head of the movement's political bureau, also called for urgent action to halt the war on the Gaza Strip in an interview with Al Jazeera, stressing that what is required now is to compel the occupation to halt its aggression and allow humanitarian supplies into the Strip.
He accused the United States of complicity in the ongoing "crime" against the Gaza Strip, noting that "condemnations today are not enough, and compelling the occupation to halt its aggression is what is required."
He added, "Israel is violating the agreements, and we are communicating with mediators to rein in the occupation and force it to respect its obligations."
He stressed that the movement had agreed to the proposals of both US envoys Adam Boehler and Steve Witkoff, and that there was no need for new agreements in light of the existing agreement with Israel.
Solidarity movement
Hamas also called in its statement for "continuing and escalating all forms of solidarity and activities denouncing the Israeli government's resumption of aggression against the Gaza Strip, and for pressure to halt it."
She said, "We call for raising Palestinian flags and mobilizing all energies and means in support of our Palestinian people's legitimate rights to a dignified life on their land, ending the unjust siege, and achieving freedom and independence."
Since dawn on Tuesday, Israel has suddenly intensified its violent airstrikes on Gaza, killing 429 people and wounding 528 others.
Today's attacks represent the largest violation of the fragile ceasefire agreement brokered by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States in January.
