Taiz: Yemen Youth Net (Exclusive)

In the early hours of Wednesday morning, Houthi militias shelled the eastern entrance to Taiz city, temporarily halting traffic and sparking panic and fear among travelers.
Yemen Youth Net quoted military sources as saying that the militia targeted the "Al-Kamb - Al-Qasr Roundabout" crossing east of the city, causing the road to be closed for a period of time before being reopened later.
The sources explained that the Houthi shelling coincided with the shutting down of road lights, which increased the fear among travelers.
This escalation comes days after local authorities in Taiz, which is under the control of the legitimate government, announced the completion of procedures to open the city's eastern crossing to travelers 24 hours a day during the holy month of Ramadan.
The port was partially opened on June 13, 2024, with vehicle traffic, excluding cargo trucks, allowed to move during the day for 12 hours a day (from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.), in an attempt to ease the siege imposed on the city.
Despite this, the Houthi militia continues to close the remaining main ports and roads, as part of the suffocating siege it has imposed on the city of Taiz since the beginning of the war.
