Yemeni activists circulated a photo on social media, which they said was of a Yemeni doctor who had lost his memory after being released from the Syrian Sednaya prison.
Journalist Samir Al-Namri said, "Doctor Riyadh Ahmed Al-Omaisi obtained a bachelor's degree in human medicine from Sana'a University, and worked for a period in the city of Hajjah."
According to Al-Nimri, Dr. Al-Omaisi moved to Syria to complete his postgraduate studies during the Syrian revolution and was arrested and disappeared since 2013.
Al-Omeisi's family had appealed for the fate of Dr. Riad Al-Omeisi to be revealed, noting that he was kidnapped by Assad's forces in 2013 while he was treating the wounded of the revolution in the city of Idlib.
It is noteworthy that Sednaya Prison is located near Sednaya Monastery, 30 kilometers north of the capital Damascus. It was built in 1987 and is divided into two parts. The first part is known as the “Red Building,” which is designated for political and civilian detainees, while the second is known as the “White Building,” which is designated for military prisoners.
It is also one of the most fortified Syrian military prisons, called the "human slaughterhouse" due to the torture, deprivation and overcrowding inside it, and was nicknamed the "red prison" due to the bloody events it witnessed during 2008.
