The General Electricity Corporation in Aden sent a distress message to the head of the Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance, appealing to him to allow the pumping of crude oil to supply the president’s station in the interim capital, which is on the verge of a complete power outage.

The institution issued a statement this evening on its Facebook page entitled “A humanitarian appeal from the people and the Aden Electricity Corporation to Sheikh Amr bin Habrish, head of the Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance.”

The statement read: "The people of the capital, Aden, and the General Electricity Corporation are addressing an urgent humanitarian appeal to Sheikh Amr bin Habrish, head of the Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance, to intervene immediately and give his directives to pump crude oil to the President's station, before its expected shutdown in the coming hours.

The institution stressed that this would lead to Aden being plunged into total darkness and a complete power outage, which would exacerbate the suffering of citizens in light of the difficult living conditions facing the city.

The statement said, "The President's Station is the main source of energy in Aden, and its shutdown means the shutdown of the solar station and all vital facilities, including hospitals, water pumping stations, and basic services that millions of residents depend on daily."

"There is no more time, and electricity is on the verge of a complete shutdown if the necessary fuel is not secured urgently," he added.

He added, "The Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance, led by Sheikh Amr bin Habrish, has shown remarkable national and humanitarian stances in the past, and today, the people of Aden are pinning their hopes on this fraternal spirit that unites the sons of one nation."

The statement addressed Bin Habrish: "We are confident that you will not delay in supporting your people in Aden, and that you will take a position that reflects the values of chivalry and solidarity in these difficult circumstances."

He concluded: "We place this appeal in your hands, and we appeal to you to intervene urgently to secure crude oil for the president's station, and save Aden from entering into an unprecedented electrical disaster."

Yesterday, Sunday, the head of the Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance directed the leadership of the alliance’s security committee to stop the export of crude oil starting from Monday, in a move he said came “to preserve Hadhramaut’s wealth and after the people of Hadhramaut gave the Presidential Leadership Council sufficient time to decide on implementing Hadhramaut’s legitimate entitlements.”
