Hadramout.. Security forces fire live bullets at demonstrators in "Ghail Bawazir"

Security forces in the Ghayl Bawazir district on the coast of Hadhramaut Governorate, east of Yemen, fired live bullets on Wednesday evening at demonstrators in solidarity with the people of the Shihr area, who were demanding the lifting of the fishing ban.

A local source told "Yemeni Youth Net" that security forces units fired live bullets at a night march in solidarity with the people and fishermen of Shihr and in support of their demands in the "Ghail Bawazir" directorate.

The source explained that the forces opened fire on the demonstration with the aim of dispersing the protesters, noting that no injuries occurred.

Last night, six people from the town of Shihir, in the district of Ghayl Bawazir, were injured when an unknown person threw a hand grenade at a sit-in near Al-Rayyan Airport in the city of Al-Mukalla, the capital of Hadhramaut Governorate.

The fishermen's sit-in is the latest protest activity in a series of activities carried out by fishermen since the beginning of last August, to demand that the local authorities and the Emirati forces allow them to return to fishing, which they have been deprived of for years.

Last Sunday, the fishermen of Shihr closed the international line east of Mukalla, about a month after the start of their protests.

It is noteworthy that the UAE forces, which are based at Al Rayyan Airport, prevented the fishermen of the Shihir area, affiliated with the Ghayl Bawazir Directorate, from engaging in any activity on the coasts of the area, which is located near the Al Dabba oil port, which negatively affected the lives of the fishermen and doubled their suffering.
