Sana'a: Yemen Youth Net - Special
Official documents obtained by the Yemeni Youth Net website revealed that Houthi leader Mahdi Al-Mashat, head of the so-called Supreme Political Council, prevented the execution of a death sentence issued against a person convicted of premeditated murder, and released him, with the state treasury bearing the cost of paying the blood money for the deceased.
According to the document issued by Al-Mashat last November, a decision was issued to pardon the convict, Ibrahim Hussein Ahsan Matar, and release him from prison, in addition to obligating the state to pay the blood money for the deceased.
The primary, appeal and supreme criminal courts had issued final rulings to execute the convict, after he was convicted of the crime of deliberately killing the victim, “Tareq Bazel Ali Al-Khalqi,” years ago.
Commenting on the decision, lawyers confirmed that Mahdi Al-Mashat has been interfering in judicial decisions related to private cases, and preventing the implementation of rulings without any legal justification or a waiver from the victim’s blood relatives, which is a blatant violation of laws and judicial norms.
This decision reflects the continued interference in the work of the judiciary under the authority of the Houthi militia, amid growing criticism of the violation of the independence of judicial institutions and the lack of respect for their rulings.
